SimTerra Code of Conduct and Safety Code

SimTerra players all come together to play in the interestingly post apocalyptic, live action role-playing game. In order to maintain a safe, fair, and fun game environment all players must understand and abide by the SimTerra Codes of Conduct, and Rule and Regulations. Please read these carefully, paying close attention to each point. All Rules and Codes are strictly enforced by SimTerra and it’s Staff Members!

Respect all other people playing in SimTerra. They have a right to have fun and be there too.

There will be no Intentional Out of Character physical abuse, mental abuse, discriminatory remarks, racism, harassment or verbal abuse. If this occurs you will be Banned from SimTerra.

Show respect toward all property and possessions of players and staff. Damage or theft of Out of Character property is not tolerated. If you steal something in character, turn it into a staff member. Let them know you stole it IC and they will take it from there.

Only SimTerra Judicators or Staff Members may deal with ooc(out of character) game debates. Consult a Judicator with all your questions or debates about SimTerra’s Rules calls, game play regulations, or other subject matter that pertains to OOC information.

SimTerra players are strictly prohibited from chastising others for improper role-playing and or making calls which should be made by a Judicator (examples are rules calls and/or effect calls). Contact a Staff Member immediately, should these instances occur. If you feel someone could/is cheating, please direct your issues to a Staff Member.

For Safety Reasons, Please let us (SimTerra Staff) know if you have any intentions to leave early. We worry about you.

Safety Word... This is a word or set of words that is NOT ALLOWED TO BE USED Unless you feel you are in trouble. Examples are Emergencies! Like someone has broken into the camp and is trying to hurt someone...or someone just broke their leg in the middle of the woods....or someone is Lost...or sexual assault... Call Ajudaki!! and everyone in the area must DROP WHAT THEY ARE DOING and Run to help as fast as possible....
Ajudaki literally means Help Here! This can also be used in an out of character conversation, to say “Come here now and Help me, this person is offending me in a sexual or harmful manor”

Yellow Light – This is only used in conversations and with the Out Of Character Symbol of fingers crossed over the head. Example: bringing your crossed fingers to your head and saying “Yellow Light”. This is used to convey that a conversation is becoming uncomfortable but has not yet caused any offense to the player. The conversation may continue as long as the subject matter does not become more offensive. Also the person making the “Yellow Light” needs to understand that they may have to leave the conversation and allow the other players to continue their conversation as this is a more adult oriented game.

Red Light - This is only used in conversations and with the Out Of Character Symbol of fingers crossed over the head. Example: bringing your crossed fingers to your head and saying “Red Light”. This is used to convey that a conversation is has become offensive to the player. The conversation may not continue as long as the player is within earshot. Any disputes based upon use of red light is to be brought to a staff member immediately.

Physical Contact is only allowed if explicit permission has been given, by asking “Permission to Rough House?” or if someone says, “I pick you up” you can choose to reply “ok go ahead” or say “No” and get up and go with them while they place a hand on your shoulder to signify that you are carrying them. Both “Permission to Rough House” and” I pick you up” as well as similar statements starting with “I….” are OOC Statements that allow people to be “hardcore” but also stay within their own comfort levels. If someone does not want to “rough house” or have physical contact, that is their right.

You can only hit legal targets on a player. These are the entire body except the head, neck, hands/fingers, and groin.

Only hit hard enough to let players know they have been hit. There are three statements that may follow a hit, “Pull your blows”, “Too Soft” and “Graze”.

“Pull Your Blows” - When someone says “Pull your Blows”, you MUST Lighten your swing. You are hitting too hard and have hurt them! If you do not, then appropriate actions will be taken by staff members.

“Too Soft” – “Too Soft” means that you have hit too lightly with THAT Opponent. So you can “take it up a notch” but only with that Opponent.

We do not allow someone to say “Pull your Blows” and “Too Soft” to the exact same person in the same fight. If that is done, then please report this to a staff member.

“Graze” – “Graze” means near miss, you barely hit them, or that you didn’t hit them but they do not want you to swing harder.

Also No Rhino-hiding. Rhino-hiding is when you refuse to take appropriate hits because they are “Too Soft” to you but to 90% of SimTerra they are actual Hits.

If you feel that you are in actual Physical Out Of Character Danger, Call a Time Out, move and wait for a staff to call a Game On.

Use or possession of alcohol or illegal drugs is strictly prohibited and will get you either suspended or Banned from SimTerra.

Smoking – You must be At Least 18 years of age or older to smoke. Extinguish all cigarette butts and place in an appropriate trash bin. If you are caught smoking and are underage, you will be either suspended or banned from SimTerra.

No Cohabitation, Sex, Intentional Indecent Exposure (as in I want to wear a shirt or pants/skirt that is so low or high that we will see: Female Nipples, Any Butt cracks, Any crotches...etc).



Meta-Gaming – Finding out game information, out of game by out of character sources (Staff, Observation of staff, listening in on conversations, reading character sheets, etc) Anything that the player knows that your character does not know or should not know is not to be used in character. This is considered meta-gaming and will get you in serious trouble with minimum of experience penalties. The Only exception to this rule, is the Rumor Mill.

The Rumor Mill – PC to PC information that is OOC. If a player decides to share information about their pc to another player that information can now be taken In Character, as having been heard through the rumor mill. So be careful who you decide to talk to Out of character.

Use Common Sense!

Respect all Staff Members of SimTerra, their calls and their property.


Fear - Must run and hide from caster. If you decide to engage another target, you must check to see if the caster which feared you is in site, if they are not, you can engage, if they are in site, or at any point while you are under the effect fear they come back into site, you must abandon the fight and return to fleeing and hiding. Closing your eyes does not count as hiding.

Alright, now that we have all ready the Safety Code and Conduct stuff , Please feel free to PM (Private Message Me, the button to do this is at the bottom of these posts, which has two little people and says pm on it) So that I can send you Via E-mail the Waivers and Parental Forms (if you are Under Age and require a Sponsor). Please have these forms with you when you come to check in along with your ID, or Copy of your Birth Certificate for legal verification. We do have copies at check in, but in order to speed up the process, it's much nicer to have them done before hand so you can get into character Faster! And we all love being in character Faster!

The Israeli Cabinet is meeting at this hour and it is expected to approve an UN Security Council resolution calling for an end to fighting in Lebanon. UN Secretary General Coffee Annan said the Israeli and Lebanese leaders are agreed. The ceasefire will go into effect tomorrow at 1 am Eastern time.

I am very happy to announce that the two leaders have agreed that the cessation facilitates and an end to the fight will enter into force on August 14 at 0300 hours Greenwich meantime.

The resolution calls for the UN to send as many as 15000 troops to Lebanon to help and force the troops. Fighting continued today. Israeli planes bombed the villages and towns across Lebanon while Hezbollah continued to launch rockets into Israel.

Thousands of people attended a rally outside the White House yesterday calling for an end to the fighting. There were also protests yesterday in California’s two largest cities. NPR’s Lova S has more from Los Angeles.
About 900 protestors march to City Hall in downtown Los Angeles calling for an end to the Israeli-Lebanon conflict. The protestors urged peace and voiced objections to the US policy in the Middle East. Some carried the large Palestinian flag, while others pounded on drums and chanted somehow up sight with slogans such as “occupation is a crime”. In San Francesco about 2000 people took to the street, some also waving Palestinian flags. Meanwhile a smaller contingent of counter-protestors carried the American and Israeli flags. Police from both cities have reported no arrests. Lova S, NPR News, Los Angeles.
In Britain the terrorist threat level is still at its highest level four days after police broke up alleged plot to cause explosions on US-bound passenger planes. Larry Miller reports from London.
It was a major major plot that our British Home Secretary John Rid described the alleged plot to blow up US-bound passenger planes. Interview on the BBC, Rid said he knew about the alleged plot for some time, but that an attack seem to be imminent, he warned again complicacy, confirming reports there are at least 2 dozen of terror conspiracies now are under investigation, Rid said at least four plots that would lead to a significant loss of lives have been foiled by the British security since the suicide bombings on the London transport system last year. Meanwhile there is still chaos at London’s Heathrow Airport. A third of today’s fights are canceled and passengers are warned to expect long delays. Restrictions including the banning in the hand luggage and liquid are still in effect. For NPR News, I am N M in London.

Authorities in Southeast China today have raised the death toll in Friiday’s typhoon to 114. Typhoon Saomai was the most powerful storm to hit China in more than 50 years.

The biannual international AIDS conference opens today in Toronto. It’s expected to draw a recorded number of aids policymakers, scientists, caregivers and activists. NPR’s Rich N reports.

24000 participants are expected in Toronto, 20 percent more than the last date’s conference in Bangkok. This year’s gathering marks 25 years since Aids was first recognized and its 10 years since researcher device drug regiments that bring the AIDS virus under control, at least to those have access to treatments. The meeting theme is “time to deliver”. That’s reference to the fact that as one conference organized put it the tour to prevent new HIV infections and treat people with the virus already exist. But there are no how is not being deliver to most of the world. Above one of five people who need treatment currently get it. And some think Aids prevention problems are actually sleeping. Nearly 500 people are graduated from Z University in New Orleans yesterday. The school had been under 8 feet of water after Hurricane Katrina last year. wow gold,S was the commencement speaker. The Illinois democrat says normally such speakers * graduate is what to expect in the real world. Most of them have already experienced the real world.
