While you can technically use any weapon to backstab and do body damage, I'm focusing this on sneak attack, which means daggers. The terms in parenthesis

D&D style rogue:
1: Offensive Proficiency
2: Body Shot (body 1)
3: Sneak Attack (sneak 1)
4: Improved Body Shot 1/3
5: Improved Body Shot 2/3
6: Improved Body Shot completed (sneak 2)
7: Offensive Specialist 1/2
8: Offensive Specialist completed (Sneak trip, Sneak Stun)
9: Improved Sneak attack 1/2
10: Improved Sneak Attack completed (sneak 3)

Benefits: Highest damage in the game, since you can call sneak 3s faster than even a Forces mage can pop out Ice/Fire/Shock 3s...and they ignore armor.

Drawback: Complete lack of status effects.

Equipment: 2 daggers.

I think you need to update this, good sir. For all those rogues in training looking at this and going, "These aren't what I'm going for..."

Something for you sneaks to chew on. Just a build I was thinking of, with a few notes as to why the skills were chosen.

Speed & Surprise Proficiency -1sp
Body -1sp
Strike +1 -1sp
-- Basic tier 1 sneaks use this, get behind them, and open up.

Defensive Proficiency -1sp
Basic Strike +1 -1sp
Body -1sp
Sneak -1sp
-- Because you can't always get behind them, so block and counter!

Speed & Surprise Specialist -2sp
Extended Backstab -1sp (+2ft to weapon for strike and body)
Sneak +1 -1sp
Sneak Break -1sp

--And now we get good. Take Extended backstab once to use a 3-4 foot weapon for your strikes and bodyshots. If you've got a longer weapon, keep extending it. Sneak 2's will drop most any squishy in 2 hits, and Sneak Break is great on big scary things.

More to come later, when I actually have the SP to get it and try it out.

You forgot Body +1 (prerequisite for Sneak +1)

As a note "extended backstab" doesn't apply to "sneak break" or "sneak +1"
It only applies to strike +1, Body, Body +1 and Server (on the back-stab tree in speed and surprise.)

I feel I should point out that Taeguk's Defensive proficiency tier I is from the Counter style, just to avoid confusion for the newer players, since this is what the Character Builds are about.

Counter's skillset items have one important prerequisite. You must parry/block an enemy's blow before you can fire off your Basic +1, Trip or Body.

Also, after all this, the sneaky and lucky rogue could spend that luck (and several skill points after his backstab and counter skills are done) and get the Fortune Strike tree, which will allow sick combo twice mores, as well as up your damage. Again, this would be all near the end, because before you take this, you will have spent close to 21 skill points (approx 3 years of events)

I beleive this is the same end result as the original build posted here but please correct me if I am wrong.

Backstab

1. Speed and Surprise Combat Style Proficiency - 1 SP
2. Strike +1 - 1 SP
3. Body - 1 SP
4. Speed and Surprise Combat Style Specialist - 2 SP
5. Body +1 - 1 SP
6. Sneak +1 - 1 SP
7. Speed and Surprise Combat Style Mastery - 3 SP
8. Sneak +2 - 1 SP

And just for fun and because everyone want status effects that count and because there are very very RARE occassion you want to take someone alive:

9. Sneak Break - 1 SP
10. Sneak Knockout - 1 SP
11. Finishing Blow - 1 SP (extends knockout, pain, and paralyze to 5 minutes when used on someone disabled)
